Expert reports from World Health Organization (WHO) have played significant role in providing evidence for Ireland’s alcohol labelling regulations and in World Health Organization (WHO) important statements of support at World Trade Organization committee meetings. Even low levels of alcohol cause health problems including cancer.
Congratulations to Colm Burke TD on appointment as Minster of State for Public Health, Wellbeing & National Drug Strategy. The Minister has a track record of interest &support for progressive alcohol policies. We look forward to engaging with him on Ireland’s biggest drug problem.
This is an important thread. Bottom line, alc industry is there to make profits for its shareholders, has no public health expertise and should not be part of public health policy development. Glad HSE Ireland in Irl has a partnership policy in place re alc industry. Department of Health
