At some point gov must show leadership in relation to curbing the pricing, marketing and availability of health harming products including alcohol. Painfully slow progress with alcohol industry being allowed to set and move the goalposts.

Expert reports from World Health Organization (WHO) have played significant role in providing evidence for Ireland’s alcohol labelling regulations and in World Health Organization (WHO) important statements of support at World Trade Organization committee meetings. Even low levels of alcohol cause health problems including cancer.

This is an important thread. Bottom line, alc industry is there to make profits for its shareholders, has no public health expertise and should not be part of public health policy development. Glad HSE Ireland in Irl has a partnership policy in place re alc industry. Department of Health
