Did my first St John Ambulance England shift in a little while yesterday, working with Jason Bassett responding to #999 calls on behalf of Yorkshire Ambulance. Great to be able to use medical skills in a different setting and do our best to make a difference to patients in the community! 🚑🩺🏥

After almost 10yrs of volunteering at Hull City matches doing first aid with St John Ambulance England, I had a go at using my medical training as Crowd Doctor today. My first ever duty as a Trainee First Aider was at the then KC stadium, and today I got to see my name in the briefing!

In an ideal world I wouldn’t be doing work related things on holiday, but needs must. Can’t think of a nicer place or better company to be doing it though!

Came across this photo of an INEOS #Grenadier on Facebook. (Not my pic!). Would love to see some join the St John Ambulance England #fleet. IMO they’d be a good replacement for our ageing 4x4s-a 1st class off road support +/- pt retrieval vehicle without need to transport via trailer.

From a very brief read of the timeline of events laid out on BBC news, it seems to me that the tragedy of Ruth Perry is as much an example of poor psychiatric care in the current broken system as it is an example of OFSTED failings.

Absolutely loving the IT update that means we have to fully restart the computers at work each time someone else needs to use them, as it won’t let a second person log in without a full restart. #nhs #IT

Since the loss of his brother at the end of last year, Track has started losing some weight, and definitely showing his old age. Thankfully he seems to be really enjoying Fortisips, not sure what his favourite flavour is yet though!

Had a good evening visiting St John Ambulance England Scunthorpe unit last night to show their adult + cadet volunteers round one of our ambulances and talk about the role of HCPs + Ambulance Crew. The adults also got chance to get hands on with some EAC/HCP kit. A good night all round!

After 10yrs of CFR, I’m chuffed to have made the step up to L5 Doctor for liveshq. Looking forward to applying ‘day job’ abilities alongside the prehospital skills I’ve been learning over the years. Grateful for the mentorship + education from LIVES to get me to this point

Lot of issues facing Resident Doctors across the UK, but credit where it’s due, Hull Emergency Department at Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust have been very supportive of my wife throughout her pregnancy, made adjustments where needed but supported her to do the job she enjoys for as long as possible. 👌

And in today’s edition of ‘what’s happening in America?’, a top court has decided that ‘boneless’ chicken, does not actually mean chicken that is boneless. 😂😂😂🇺🇸🇺🇸. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

85% of the time, LIVES Responders reach you before an ambulance? Meet Howard, a dedicated responder from Grantham. When every second counts, Howard and others like him are there, thanks to your support 💛 lives.org.uk/howard-25-year… #LIVESResponders #EmergencyResponse

It amazes me that with all the technological advances we’ve seen in the last 15yrs, ITVX is still such a shockingly slow and glitchy system. I remember BBC iPlayer being miles ahead when I was a kid, and somehow it still manages to be.

11yrs ago today I became an St John Ambulance England First Aider. Many hours of events +NHS support later, with a collection of roles held, I’m still going strong! There may be challenges ahead just as there has been before, but I’m looking forward to another 11yrs ( and then some more!)

Currently attempting to make a teaching aide for an ultrasound session using chicken breasts, red juice, and some rubber tubing. Not quite committed enough to have bought my own ultrasound machine, so no way of testing it before trying to teach tomorrow!! 😬😬
