Electrostatic motors seem like a good fit for space applications, where you can run at kilovolts without arcing, and you can delete the entire gearbox because they have so much static torque. (But are there rad-tolerant kilovolt electrical switching elements?)

Great question. I don’t think the Moon can have solid sheets or lenses of ice like the Earth and Mars have. The absence of an atmosphere means everything on the lunar surface gets pummeled by meteorites and broken into granular material to 10s of meters depth. /1

Move the drive to the new machine, boot from USB, and: dd if=/dev/sda of=/dev/nvme0n1 bs=4096k Takes a few hours, but this copies over *everything*, even your open Chrome tabs. I've never had it work with Windows, but with Linux it has always worked great!

Lucas Samuel Excellent paper on laser sintering regolith! I really liked this figure showing the poor results from both using too *little* laser power (unmelted) and too *much* laser power ("keyholing" and boiling).

OK, until watching this I didn't realize there's a "human movement style", and it looks totally different from "robot movement style"!

I have good news, and I have bad news. The good news is: the cavalry is coming. We are saved. The crisis will be resolved. The problem will be solved. The bad news is: if you are reading this, you’re the cavalry.

“Holy shit, Tesla just made a car drive itself from the manufacturing line directly to the home of a customer without a human operator.” “…yeah, but…” No. Shut the fuck up and listen to me. A car just drove itself from the production line of a factory to someone’s home
