A nice walk in the hills today with my brother John, I missed on Johns sighting of a Merlin chasing a Golden plover, but nice to see Dunlin Golden plover, Raven and Short eared owl. A guy at trig point asked me my name, we had worked together @ 40 years ago, Bizarre !

The Grandkids planted conker about 4 years ago, it’s doing canny.

A local stubble field @ 10 Pewits nested, they got off to an early start and had been sitting a couple of weeks, I went one day and it had been ploughed, it must happen thousands of times each spring. most of them are trying again, they've just got to dodge the sprayer now 🙏.

A bit distant, but I think it’s the Tufted/Pochard Hybrid that’s been touring the local lakes lately, maidens hall this morning.

In a popular local cafe today, mind you I’ve done that myself any amount of times! Stood outside the shop while my wife has a browse (maybe not if foods involved).

I went along to my lockup this morning, when I opened the big doors I noticed this bat , I found one in the exact spot a year or two back. It lives in the 12mm gap between the doors I had to gently move it to another spot inside the doors, for fear of nipping it.

Still a decent flock of Fieldfare on the Otterburn ranges this morning (plus a few Starlings) excuse the dodgy camera work, awkward angle /car window.

3 Grey Plover in a stubble at East Chev this morning, they’ve been there a few days. I would have liked a video of the nesting Lapwing chasing them whenever they got too near the nests.

Washed up in the bay today, it’s got to be part of an WW2 aircraft going by the build quality, I’d love to know what it was from my farther used to talk about parts of a glider washing up.

A few reports of Whooper swans making their way north this weekend, this lot called in at Maidens hall lake this morning.

A friend sent me this photo, Oystercatcher with a bill almost twice normal length.

Last Starling tweet for now, pleased to see them back in the box they nested in last year, not so many paces for them to nest in modern houses etc.
