On duty for the first of another round of 14 shifts over the next 25 days. Hopefully a quiet one so I can catch up on some work Iâve had to put off during the high tides.
Luxury yacht Triton passing through the #ThamesBarrier outbound.
â ď¸ Tides remain high for the next couple of days - our Flood Alert covering Putney to Teddington riverside properties has been updated.
No further #ThamesBarrier closures expected this week.
â ď¸ Flood Alerts have been issued upstream of the #ThamesBarrier for this afternoonâs high tide.
The Barrier will not be operating today.
The tide in the early hours of tomorrow will be lower thanks to favourable weather, although we have issued an Alert upstream of Putney.
â ď¸ Itâs been decided there will not be a #ThamesBarrier closure overnight and our Flood Alert covering riverside properties from Putney to Teddington has been updated again for the high tide in the early hours of tomorrow morning.
It's a little unusual to have a #ThamesBarrier closure this late in the Flood Season. Of the 220 closures, the breakdown is:
September - 3
October - 12
November - 12
December - 28
January - 58
February - 69
March - 32
April - 5 (including today)
May - 1

#ThamesBarrier closure 220 is complete, and Port of London Authority are informing river users they can come out of the starting blocks for the evening rush.
Some gates have been left in the defence position as further Barrier closure are possible over the next few high tides.
The tide is now peaking at the #ThamesBarrier .
We are in the process of moving some of the larger gates to underspill to allow a controlled amount of water under the gate.
This will speed up the reopening process for the evening rush hour.
