I believe that #WebGPU can become a default graphics API even for #desktop applications, as it is: 🔹Cross-platform 🔹Standard 🔹Future-oriented 🔹Performant So I've started working on a tutorial series about how to use it in C++! ➡️eliemichel.github.io/LearnWebGPU Feedback wanted! 🙏

I have been buried in tensors for the last couple of weekends and I am coming out for air... Still lots to do, learning a ton in the process! This is what I have been working on:

Cool rendering thing of the day: Max Liani ported OIDN's deep learning denoising network to CUDA with spectacular results. Super amazing work!

This feels unreal! After more than 6 years working on WebGPU, it's getting released in Chromium 113, in stable and without flags! It only took a bit longer than the 2 year adventure we initially thought it would be 😅 Read more about it here developer.chrome.com/blog/webgpu-re…

Added support for OpenImageDenoise 2.0 GPU API to Wicked Engine (path trace, lightmaps). The new GPU denoiser is a lot faster than the CPU one. It required one API change, to upload and download image data using oidn::BufferRef instead of raw pointers. github.com/turanszkij/Wic…

🚨🚨🚨THIS IS NOT A DRILL; HARDWARE RAYTRACING ON APPLE SILICON 🚨🚨🚨 Can’t wait for this to make its way from iPhone 15 Pro to the M3 Macs.

GDC 2024 was fun! Take a look at the latest debugging tools available from AMD like GPU Reshape to help debug runtime problems with your shaders like out of bounds errors, and AMD Radeon GPU Detective for tracking what specifically caused a crash in a given application.

I'm absolutely loving Obsidian as a note taking tool. It's just locally running markdown, nothing crazy, presented in a clear, concise, and well formatted manner like Norton. obsidian.md

I was in High Performance Graphics 2024 in Denver, CO last weekend and the experience was inspiring. Seeing distinguished speakers share impressive papers and posters such as H-PLOC, DGF, and neural denoisers with such depth of knowledge made the trip worth it.

Initial H-PLOC implementation working! Still a BVH2 format, and a bit slower than it can be, but the quality seems good given just a single kernel launch. Once I get the wide converter working, I'll put the HLSL/Slang on a public repo.

I recently bought one of the new Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite machines, the Samsung Galaxy Book4 Edge. The battery is similar to other arm devices like your phone, but is running Windows and can run most apps natively or with x86 emulation. Love the battery life and low heat.

Managed to get a library I wrote compiled and running on Windows 11 ARM64. Microsoft discourages installing Visual Studio 2022 + Build Tools with a dismissible popup that says ARM64 isn't supported, but otherwise Visual Studio, C++ apps, and Rust work fine.
