New research showing that sewage in Scotland’s rivers & beaches is far more widespread than generally realised—and monitoring is scant (only 8% of sewage outflows are monitored vs nearly 100% in England). As in England, regulation is weak. theguardian.com/environment/ar…

After ignoring it for two months, today's the day I need to open the edit of my latest kids' book and get on with it. Two coffees so far, plus this pointless Twitter update... Reluctant Procrastinator Mode fully engaged! 😂🤦😐📕✍️☕️🤯

September. Sleepy eyed kids at early bus stops in too large blazers. A grey hint of coolness on the air. A faint drizzle and the scent of honeysuckle. Hawthorn berries were ripening in the hedgerows and today was the first time in months that I've wished for a wooly hat.

I would love to know what % of a bookshop's income comes from books published in the last year. Any idea? (ie - could bookshops survive if nobody (ie: me) ever wrote another book! I'm not sure the world needs any more?!

Seeing a few people posting about swallows gathering – always a time of year I’m not quite ready for. They’re about to undertake a frankly ridiculous journey – tiny slips of things flying to Africa. Africa. Southern Africa, at that. I mean, come on.
