And it is wonderful to see the news this morning of a “full and immediate ceasefire” between Pakistan and India. We desperately need such good news — and a path to peace — in the Middle East as well.

In the recent India-Pakistan crisis, the Ahmadi minority stood firmly by their homeland, despite the discrimination they have long endured in 🇵🇰. I hope this inspires more Pakistanis to better embrace all minorities — and to see that pluralism is both a virtue and a strength.

Families in Gaza are starving while the food they need is sitting at the border. But World Food Programme hasn't been able to get new aid in since 2 March. If we wait for famine to be officially confirmed, it will be TOO LATE. We need access. We need a ceasefire. We need to move NOW.

Wonderful news: The PKK, at war with Turkey since 1984, says farewell to arms. This is a blessing for Turks, Kurds, Turkey, Syria, and the whole region. It also offers a broader lesson for all: The safest way to end terrorism is through political solutions, not endless wars.

Sad to see the political murders in Washington DC last night. My condolences to the American Jewish community and all who are in pain. Attacks on civilians are never justified, by anyone, for any cause. And a better future lies not in escalating violence, but in seeking peace.

Before the 7th-century Islamic conquests, the dominant language in Jerusalem was Greek — the language of the Byzantine Empire, which had persecuted & expelled Jews. It was only thanks to Caliph Umar that Jews returned to their holy city. Facts are facts, regardless of ideology.
