A pragmatic accelerated theta-burst stimulation protocol using only 3 intermittent theta-burst stimulation sessions per day and a nonexpensive, non-neuronavigated approach was found to be safe and effective for treatment-resistant depression. ja.ma/3FaIhTS

Generosity is an anti-depressant. Depressed people were randomly assigned to give less than a penny a day to charity. Over the next 2 months, moods improved and depression declined. The more they gave, the better they felt. Even small acts of kindness elevate mental health.

Why I routinely under-diagnose: 1)Initial impressions often wrong 2)We see patients on worst day- doesnt extrapolate to future 3)Easy to later up diagnose 4)Hard to erase wrong label 5)Harms of overdiagnosis far worse- stigma/meds 6)I wish all diagnosis could be written in pencil

From JAMA Pediatrics: More screen time is associated with more depressive symptoms, potentially due to shorter sleep and worse white matter organization during early adolescence. ja.ma/4nnHMYd
