I am thrilled to announce that our Sports Week is now in full swing, with loads of members and activities being recorded from as early as 06:58am! A House competition for recording your walk, run & swim distances and 6 skill challenges to complete too. Good luck to all houses!

Great to be back after completing our first full week last week. The Boys are focusing on rugby and the Girls Hockey and our new PE programme focusing on Creativity, Adventure, Competition and Leadership is fully underway too.

Great to see one of our sports scholars, Keira F yr11, continuing from her last year's England Hockey GU15 Performance Centre selection, to be selected for the 2020/21 GU17 Performance Centre for the East of England. Well done Keira!

Congratulations to one of our former students, Tom C from last years yr 11 cohort. He has been selected for Northampton Saints academy again (U17 and U18) and into the England Academy Player programme (EAP). Well Done Tom from all of us at Akeley.

Congratulations to Kiera F in yr 11 who has been invited to trials for the England National GU16 squad for 3 days during the Oct half term.

As the week draws to a close we look back on an enjoyable week of PE. Our students continue to impress us with their attitude and effort in all activities. This week we have seen rugby, badminton, cheerleading, leadership, orienteering and Hockey all in full flow.

Many thanks to Luke Pearce for doing a Q&A session regards to Fitness Testing and The Sports Development Industry with our BTEC Sport students this morning. A fascinating insight to what it takes to be a top International Rugby Referee.

Congratulations to Charlie W in yr 8, for winning the Banbury West-End Under 13's Tennis Tournament last weekend. He is currently playing at Towcester where he also plays for the adult's team in the Northampton League. Well done Charlie!

Another one of our students has been busy over half term, this time Izzy H who has recently returned from a weeks show jumping (Winter Pony Champs) and Izzy came 2nd in a massive Grand Prix. Congratulations Izzy!

Congratulations to Izzy H who has officially been awarded with the Gold Medal for the highest placed rider this summer. She was the leading rider in the 128 Gold League (Number 1 in the country for her age and size pony)
