I'm all for equal opportunity for women even in the military. But this photo of Israeli female soldiers taking a selfie on the ruins of Gaza really makes me cringe.

The fanatics in Netanyahu's government threaten to leave his coalition if he doesn't go to Rafah. Netanyahu only cares about his survival, so he might do the stupid thing and instruct the IDF to do so. Biden: Say 'Don't' to him, and deprive him of the weapons he needs in Rafah.

Gerhard Kemp Omar Shakir A lot of nervousness in Israel lest the ICC issue arrest warrants against Netanyahu, Galant, and the Chief of Staff. If such warrants are issued then it is an earthquake.

They see how Israel turned Gaza into a modern Drezden, and they understand - not by knowledge, perhaps, but by instinct - that it is wrong.

The Israelis are moving forces to show they intend to operate in Rafah. They are bluffing - at least for now. They will need at least 4 weeks to evacuate Palestinians from Rafah before these war machines can even start their engines. This pressure will not impress Hamas.

I'm asked about an IDF operation in Rafah. The IDF shifted the 162 division to there. But I think that it is just posturing. The Israelis are bluffing. Biden says, 'Don't'; Egypt against; an Op will endanger the hostages; it will prolong the war with Hezbollah. So, for now - no.

Instead of entering Rafah, causing bloodshed and gaining little, the Israelis should negotiate with Egypt on how to block the 12 or so tunnels that run from the Sinai into Gaza and through which Hamas gets its weapons. They will need a 13km barrier going 40 metres into the ground

What would be the first signal that the Israelis are serious about entering Rafah? It would be the dropping of leaflets over Rafah calling on its people to evacuate. For now - no leaflets. So, parking a whole division near Rafah is a bluff - just to put pressure on Hamas.
