Last week, the BirdLife Africa marine team introduced the scarybird to our Cabo Verde project partners and the Guardians of the seas as part of the training on #byctch mitigation and safe handling training we delivered in Mindelo. Thanks to the Biodiversity Challenge Funds for their finacial support.

#Bycatch of marine megafauna is a key priority for BirdLife Marine programme. BirdLife Africa marine team and SPEA just conducted, in Cabo Verde, a training on Safe release & bycatch mitigation techniques for partners and the Guardians of the Sea.

The 2nd meeting of the Steering Committee for Conservation Projects in #CaboVerde is taking place in Mindelo from 11th - 15th March. The meeting brings together various project stakeholders including NGO Biosfera Cabo Verde, BirdLife International, Associação Projecto Vitó, Projeto Sal, Lantuna Cabo Verde

Building on this, the seminar will focus on evaluating what has been achieved so far, and plan for the next phase of project activities. Ahmed Diame

Sadly, a juvenil of YLG was entangled in a recreational fishing line again in #Malaga and she swallowed the hook. This incidence lead to his death. Poor #gulls , the #beaches become a trap for them instead of a natural habitat #Teamgull Grupo de Trabajo de Aves Marinas (GTAM)
