I recently held my cat and watched as the light left her eyes and I babbled 'but she's so small' through sobs. When the vet took her from me her head shifted and it looked for a second like she was alive and had moved, and i realized she would never move again.

Wizards has no say in how I run my game, but I still dislike the idea of standardizing every subclass at level 3. Sorcs, clerics, and wlocks get their subclass at level 1 because it represents the source of their powers. I like games where every class feels and plays different.
