Turnout in the elections was unappreciated by everyone including PiS. See this fascinating thread by Stanley Bill who argues that increased turnout in villages didn’t play in PiS favour.

I feel the ignorance for what the EU institutions do and stand for was there long before the referendum. CER was the only think tank in London which had- and rightly so- a dedicated role for EU institutions which I proudly took up in 2014.

The Left is likely to have a smaller representation in Sejm than in 2019 but may be part of governing coalition. Women seem to be drifting away from PiS but still zirka 36 % opted for this party.

A couple queuing with me yesterday to cast a ballot- voted for the first time in their lives - and believe me they looked older than me. This already indicated a possibly high turnout but confirmed figures (over 70 %) are beyond everyone’s expectations. Well done folks!
