Earlier today our team of enumerators set off to Ngoma district as we begin the pilot phase of a project to support farmers through their cooperatives. Agriterra Rwanda





Prioritizing quantity over quality of maize harvest has increased the severity of the aflatoxin outbreak in Rwanda. Today, we presented aflakiosk to different cooperatives of maize farmers in Ngoma district, that will improve their maize quality. We have learnt a great deal piloting mobile testing services for maize through Aflakiosk with our partners @Aflasight IFC Africa and WFP Africa to improve access to qualify maize in Rwandan markets. Edith Heines

Last week, our team was at Nyagatare for three days. We sampled and tested the maize from different farmers and connected them to premium markets at MINIMEX Ltd Kigali , Prodev, and AIF, where they can sell their grain.








Last week, our team had the pleasure of having Dr Dirk E. Maier, the Associate Director of the Global Food Consortium, at Iowa State University, at our premises at Vanguard Economics. Dr. Maier has a research program on post-harvest engineering applied to grain and feed operations. #research




This morning , a few visitors from IFC Africa and Global Agriculture & Food Security Program (GAFSP) stopped by our premises and lab where we demonstrated the process of testing aflatoxin in maize and had a great discussion about the work we've done so far with co-operatives in Rwanda.
