Aside from biking being the most efficient, what is interesting to me here is that cars are just about as efficient as walking while jets are slightly better.

new release3 7Y5E: In situ single-PBS-PSII-PSI-LHCs megacomplex. (3.30Å) You, X., Zhang, X., Cheng, J., Xiao, Y.N., Sui, S.F. In situって書いてあるけど、reconstruction methodが"single particle"と書いてあるのでSPAかな? (それでも3.3Åは凄い)

A really fun project, glad it's finally out. Pushing the microscopes to their limit and a bit more, not unlike racing, has always been a passion. Not just fast once around a single lap, but again and again, achieving or bettering the outcome each time.

Extended Data Figure 2 of the preprint has beautiful graphs that nicely illustrate the power of the Selectris on both the Krios and Glacios

I’m delighted to share our work Alan Brown on the structures of axoneme, one of the largest macromolecular machine in nature! This is really a dream coming true! Now we have an atomic view of the core of cilia skeleton. nature.com/articles/s4158…

Was quite a journey squeezing every bit of productivity from the microscopes and learning all we can about the subtleties of the structure-activity relationship of the ligands interacting with the CAK complex at each step of the imaging process.

My grandfather built motors that powered big machines. In a lab not so different from his workshop, my colleagues and I uncovered the assembly of the bacterial motor. Today, this discovery has been published in Nature Microbiology #MolecularNodes #Discovery nature.com/articles/s4156…
