Your must read today. Where the Calgary police refused to charge a violent past offender who left me racist messages and threatened to being my presence in Canada to 'an end' because, according to them, 'he typically escalates after being charged.' ๐Ÿ’€

Meredith, M.Ed. This also points to the binary that makes me crazy. Itโ€™s either do nothing & not care or do everything & still be anxious, that all those mitigations wonโ€™t work if they arenโ€™t 100%. I can feel relaxed bc I know my respirator works, ditto nasal spray, booster, etc.

Molly Itโ€™s so odd to me that so many wonโ€™t mask in medical settings. I remember as a kid my pediatrician had a sick kids waiting room and well kids waiting room. My mom told me not to touch the sick kid areaโ€™s toys because of germs. If only we had known about masking! And now we do.

Read my latest, about how foundational anti-vaxxer beliefs - like that illness builds the immune system, masks can harm you, public health is an individual choice, and vulnerable peopleโ€™s welfare is their own problem- have gone completely mainstream:

PSA: Two things can be true at the same time.
Vaccines and boosters have helped immensely, but preventing infections - through all the NPIs we know work well against Covid-19 - is just as important!

Planes, trains, trams & ferries - my N95 respirator has consistently protected me from not only Covid but also other airborne pathogens. At least I don't need a @sipmask on this one - I can step outside on the open deck for a drink ๐Ÿ™‚. Don't be a masochist - wear a respirator.

Good new Far-UVC study, lot of interesting bits:

A few notes from a first pass-

As expected, as more papers are published, it's looking like Far-UVC in real-world scenarios is both far safer and more effective than in a labโ€™s hermetically sealed

๐Ÿ‘‡ handled absolutely perfectly.

The worst thing one could do is get mad at masked ill people for not staying home. Not everyone has that option; respirators are effective tools & their use should be encouraged. (Also for wearer protection, but that's a parallel objective).
