A new paper! Ron Refaeli, Ph.D. looked at how remote memory engrams in the CA1 remain stable (and are important to memory), and how they mature, by adding new cells based on their connections during systems consolidation. ​Of course there are astrocytes too... ​biorxiv.org/cgi/content/sh…
