I published the first Abdul Adan story I ever read (african-writing.com/nine/bashirada…) and a couple more, since then, and I believe I have sequenced the DNA of his style: a tall tale with an absurd idea seasoned to credibility, and a central character, 9 feet tall...

A commendable initiative by the MDR county administration. We hope to see efficient implementation of this going forward.

I'm watching a trailer of a Somali TV show. Recently made, all the tech is current as far as one could see. But the characters are all well-groomed, make up and all. Is it a beauty thing or character creation? Let's be serious in how we showcase humanity in realistic film-making.

My story "The Somalification of James Karangi" has itself been somalified. Translated by Bodhari Warsame and published in the somali journal Geeska.

"Black beauty" you say? You don't say "light beauty" because beauty belongs in lightness, right? And if it's a particularly dark person their "beauty" has to be accompanied by their colour? I can't help but perceive a hidden a "but" in there. "Beautiful" is enough.

In my dream I arrived in a dystopian America where everyone was assigned one of 15 genders by the govt and whipped if they didn't write it on all forms. I wasn't told mine so I wrote "male" on an immigration form and got whipped at the airport.

In a month, three more xaaxfuls got married. At least one invited me to help serve the guests at the party. I felt so non-existent, almost like Pus from "The Sopranos" when, right before he got wacked for snitching,Tony asked, "Hey, Pus, do you even exist?" Somaliland hanoolaato!
