Don't know where this line about the first government to raise income tax in 50 years has come from? Gordon Brown scrapped the 10p rate and raised tax for millions of lower paid workers.

Doing an exit tax is very dumb, but telling everyone that you’re doing one and then not doing it is a pretty close second.

At the 500ft long pile of rubbish by River Cherwell in Oxfordshire 🤢 ONLY 0.14% of fly-tipping cases end in prosecution. Authorities have let fly-tipping become LEGAL. Time to end this. We've launched the DIRTY DASHBOARD to pressure councils to ACT. Check where yours ranks 👇

Sorry Maureen, can’t come over to do your care today, my driving licence isn’t valid in this weather. Hope you’ve got something in the freezer you can heat up and that the weather’s better in a few days.

Pippa Crerar Jessica Elgot You all shout loudly about rights but when the government literally sets about removing rights you say it is to prevent gaming the system. You should be enraged at one of the oldest of citizen rights being trashed in this manner.

This is all extremely encouraging. But AI is a highly energy-intensive industry. Britain is going to need a lot more energy infrastructure to make this work. Government needs to make that an urgent priority!

Reminder on Human Rights law: ❌ PREVENTS NUCLEAR POWER REGULATION REFORMS (apparently) ✅ YOU CAN END THE 1000 YEAR HISTORY OF JURY TRIALS NO PROBLEM

Chancellor promised to respond to John Fingleton Nuclear Review at the Budget. Instead she's bottled it. NO commitments at all. Nothing! High energy costs are CRUSHING British industry and living standards. It is URGENT that ALL recommendations MUST be implemented ASAP.

The full written speech is even less clear! Government "accepts the *principle* of all the recommendations". What does that mean? Are they accepting ALL or are they not? Note the "international obligations" - our leaks were right! Stop speaking in vague terms and ACCEPT ALL.

No one is willing to have the fundamental discussion about what we want the state to do. Every year it grows larger, and working people are squeezed to cover the rising cost. We don't need tweaks to thresholds and percentages. We need to start over.
