28 degrees, Cuckoo calling and now the first Swallowtail laying eggs on fennel, spring is certainly here!!

A natural edge Yew platter, 28cm at its widest. Really lucky it held together with all the splits, finished with boiled linseed oil.

Today’s hollow form, this one in Walnut and measuring 15*12cm. Usual finish, sanded to 240, Yorkshire Grit and finally with White Diamond and Carnauba wax on the buffing wheels.

Todays hollow form in Yew, this one 14*10cm. Really surprised I was able to get anything as there was lots of rot in the timber. Hollowed with the Woodcut ProForme and finished in the usual way.

Todays piece, a hollow form in Yew with a few beads for embellissement, this one measures 15*13cm. Usual finish, sanded to 240, Yorkshire Grit and finished on the buffing wheels.

Todays project, a shallow bowl (23*5cm) in Tulip wood. I think it would be better to carve than turn as it’s so soft, I’ve got about 3 cube of this to get through!

Another twice turned Sweet Chestnut hollow form today, this one 17*15cm.

Today’s piece, a twice turned hollow form in Sweet Chestnut, measuring 18*18cm. Sanded to 240 and finished on the buffing wheels.

Today’s project, a twice turned Ash bowl 23*10cm with the usual finish.

Today’s piece, a wide rimmed bowl with a wobble bottom. This one in Walnut with a little spalting, the piece is 29*3.5cm, the rim is 9*.5cm. Sanded to 240, Yorkshire Grit and finished on the buffing wheels.

A spring morning down by the beach

Something new for me today, a three footed bowl in Sweet Chestnut. This one measures 19*9cm and is sanded to 320 and then finished with boiled linseed oil.

It’s raining again, so I had an hour in the workshop today. I found this piece of Beech to turn this 24*3 platter.

Well, this Jason Breach off centre wobble box was an interesting project. I did this one with an Ash body and Olive Ash lid.

Today’s hollow form, this one in Yew and measuring 20*14cm, finished in the usual way.

The last of my large pieces of spalted Sycamore made this 23*18cm hollow form. As usual, sanded to 240, Yorkshire Grit and then finished on the buffing wheels.
