April 30 story: “A Romantic Weekend” by Mary Gaitskill

Damn, this one’s so good. Feels like at least every few lines it finds a perfect phrase, or twists into somewhere unexpected, or uncovers something surprising. A new fave.

🚨 After Hours is exactly “one Fargo” long (aka the platonic ideal movie length) 🚨

Probably my favorite thing about 'The Paperhanger' is how most of the story is kinda about this mystery of who could have done it, and it turns out it was... the paperhanger.

Can’t wait for end-of-the-year office cleaning…

April 28 story: “Who Will Greet You At Home” by Lesley Nneka Arimah

This one worked for me more than the title story but still didn’t totally connect. Interesting reads but feels like I’m not a match for these.

At the end of the semester I like to ask which readings & discussions & activities & etc. were their faves but also most helpful; and my fave answers are the readings/discussions/activities/etc. some students hated or thought pointless that totally unlocked something for others.
