April 30 story: “A Romantic Weekend” by Mary Gaitskill

Damn, this one’s so good. Feels like at least every few lines it finds a perfect phrase, or twists into somewhere unexpected, or uncovers something surprising. A new fave.

Probably my favorite thing about 'The Paperhanger' is how most of the story is kinda about this mystery of who could have done it, and it turns out it was... the paperhanger.

I don't usually write in google docs, and don't often play with sentences this much, but always thought it'd be kind fun to make a little gif or short vid of tinkering with just a few sentences, trying to get them just right...

April 28 story: “Who Will Greet You At Home” by Lesley Nneka Arimah

This one worked for me more than the title story but still didn’t totally connect. Interesting reads but feels like I’m not a match for these.

At the end of the semester I like to ask which readings & discussions & activities & etc. were their faves but also most helpful; and my fave answers are the readings/discussions/activities/etc. some students hated or thought pointless that totally unlocked something for others.
