A huge thank you to everyone who came to this year’s River Festival Coventry and made it so special, including artists, activity organisers & @FarGoVillage. We hope you left with a deeper appreciation for the River Sherbourne. Warwickshire Wildlife Trust The National Lottery Heritage Fund Midlands & East #riverfest24

This is a hard-to-advertise potential upside of scrapping Winter Fuel Allowance – the people who successfully apply for pension credit to keep it will be about £4k a year better off than they were before. And by definition they’re low-income households.

With news outlets using lots of photos it finally spurred me into signing up with Getty, should have done that years ago...

Isn’t the outrage incredible when pensioners, many already wealthy, don’t have everything go their way, or have a govt that bends over backwards for them at every turn at the expense of us all? That’s the exact same attitude the majority of them have toward young people btw.

Two facts re winter fuel allowance: 1) At £200 it's same in cash terms as in 2000 - a real terms cut of 45%. Slow drift into irrelevance. 2) Pensioners much better off than they were then - poverty rate down from 26% to 16%, median income up 38% (only up 19% for non-pensioners)
