113 degrees before noon is quite an impressive feat, even for Phoenix! The last time I recall this occurring was 7/19/23, which ended up at a high of 119°F. Regardless of where today ends up, it will continue to be a record breaking day across the region. #azwx

The old August high temperature record of 117°F, originally set in 2011 and tied numerous times since then, has officially been dethroned with a scorching reading of 118°F at Sky Harbor. #azwx

It was a record hot day for August, not only in Phoenix, but across the region. Multiple daily and monthly record highs were tied or broken. Phoenix Sky Harbor did not get any hotter than 118°F after our earlier update. #azwx #cawx

This is very bad. Winds from 80-90 mph along an outflow boundary and decaying haboob across the Sea of Cortez. The power grid of Puerto Peñasco is being cut very fast. Not a good situation. Nearly zero visibility (after the video was taken). #Sonorawx

Distant thunderstorms over Puerto Libertad, Sonora this evening. The HRRR is liking that this group of storms sends an outflow boundary NW to the Sea of Cortez in about 8 hours…let’s see if we can see another show! ⚡️
