Arizona Indian Gaming Association and Arizonans for Tribal Government Gaming are deeply saddened by the loss of Irwin Twist, a dedicated councilman of the Cocopah Indian Tribe, who recently passed away. Our condolences and prayers go out to his loved ones and the Cocopah Tribe.

Today, the San Carlos Apache Tribe declared a state of emergency as a wildfire continues to burn over a thousand acres in eastern Arizona. Chairman Robert Miguel of the Arizona Indian Gaming Association offered the following statement regarding its overwhelming impact:

AIGA congratulates the White Mountain Apache Tribe on breaking ground for the Whiteriver Service Station Project in downtown Whiteriver! This development is a crucial part of the Tribal Council’s ongoing efforts to revitalize the community.

The San Carlos Apache Tribe has generously gifted a beautiful 40-ft ponderosa pine to serve as Arizona’s official Capitol Christmas Tree this holiday season. The tree lighting will take place on Dec. 2 at the Capitol Rotunda. bit.ly/4g7tjLo

This week, Tribal Leaders and Tribal Gaming management came together for the First Things First Tribal Child Care Forum. Attendees discussed the child care challenges impacting the gaming industry in Tribal communities. AIGA is proud to be part of this important conversation.
