Tomorrow in elementary teacher prep we're building initial models explaining why we think ice floats in water ... here's what we have so far

Our first exploratory science talk brought up ideas about how the density of ice vs liquid water matters for floating. But no idea why.

Interviews with children in field placements raised the idea that the liquid water must be able to hold the ice "up" somehow.

Teachers are now wondering if ice cubes work the same as icebergs and are curious about the kiddo's idea about "holding ice up"

So, tomorrow I'm using lots of Back Pocket Questions designed to work on 4 ideas: density AND buoyancy AND weight AND displacement.
