Visibility of women in politics, business and farming is very important, and women should not be denied leadership roles - Commissioner Mairead Mairead McGuinness at #ASA24
Mairead McGuinness European Commission There is less idealism and more pragmatism in Europe now...Need to look at vulnerabilities in the sectors, no easy solutions but sustainability is key in face of climate change, says Mairead McGuinness
Speaking on the Green Deal, Farm to Fork Policy and other EU publications Mairead McGuinness says "there was too much put forward and it made farmers nervous. In the Commission now we have less idealism and more pragmatism. "How many schemes do we really need in agriculture?"
“Will member states contribute more to the eureopean unit budget?” asks Commissioner Mairead McGuinness. “You can’t say you support more money for farmers in the common agricultural policy and just transition if you don’t contribute to that.” #ASA24

Big thanks to ASAireland for a truly stimulating conference on agrifood trade challenges. I learned a lot, not least about Ireland’s prospects in China. Met some inspiring Irish colleagues and enjoyed connecting and socialising with Phil Hogan and Mairead McGuinness.
