Now when visitors from around the world come to the US Capitol, they’ll see our state represented by one of the most courageous women of our time. The 92nd General Assembly made a wise decision in selecting the likeness of Daisy Gatson Bates to stand proudly in Statuary Hall.

Congratulations to Brian Evans on his election as Speaker-designate. I'm confident that Rep. Evans will lead the House in a way that prioritizes the needs of Arkansans.

I am grateful for former Speaker Benny Petrus' service to our state. He had a strong belief in the important role that a Speaker plays in state government. I extend my condolences and prayers to his family and friends.

We are always thrilled to welcome Arkansas Boys State to the House Chamber. Speaker Brenton Muhammad did an outstanding job as did the delegates from Union County. I expect we will see many of these students leading our state in years to come.

Two years ago I had the opportunity to visit the sacred beaches of Normandy. I reflect on that experience often. Today, I hope we all remember the bravery and sacrifice made 80 years ago that secured freedom and peace around the world.

I thoroughly enjoyed speaking with the participants of the MyARinternship program this summer. Their insightful questions and genuine passion for public service were truly impressive.

It’s a historic day for Arkansas and I couldn’t be prouder of this General Assembly. We’ve reduced income taxes, increased the property tax credit for homeowners, and put money back in the pockets of Arkansans.

Devastated by the news coming out of Fordyce. I’m in contact with law enforcement and the Governor’s Office. My prayers are with the victims, their families, the brave first responders on the scene, and all of Fordyce and the surrounding area.

In 2019, the Arkansas General Assembly passed legislation directing the commission of a statue of Johnny Cash to represent Arkansas in our nation’s Capitol. I was honored to be there today with members of Cash’s family and fellow legislators as the statue was unveiled.
