The ppl around Starmer go on about how 'ruthless' he is. Ruthlessness in politics often causes disaster. But now we also see what else it leads to: two women of colour who've come further & worked harder for Labour than any central-casting apparatchik being thrown under the bus

Labour is busy purging women of colour while dropping the likes of Luke Akehurst into safe seats.

There's not a chance I'll be voting for an authoritarian right wing party like this.

Now that Parliament is dissolved lets recognize the incredible contribution Caroline Lucas has made over the past 14 years. During that time, she has won numerous awards for her fantastic work representing her constituents and providing a crucial voice to millions of voters.

If this is how the Labour party act towards their own in opposition, during an election campaign, imagine how they will act in government with a huge majority. The demand of absolute and utter loyalty, disavowal of plurality and avoidance of scrutiny should worry us all.

If we had a healthy media:

They'd lead on Labour purging women of colour, while white male allies who did actually bad things were protected.

But are media is a) institutionally racist and b) largely dominated by white journalists who aren't remotely interested.

The Labour party's behaviour, exhibiting lack of transparency and indeed decency towards its own candidates, really does not bode down well for how they plan to run the country. They also seem to be requiring a degree of allegiance and conformity that is frankly rather worrying.

Victoria Derbyshire said no one from Labourโ€™s top team would appear on Newsnight tonight, not for the want of the programme trying.

This bodes well for a government in waiting - shunning scrutiny.

The way Faiza Shaheen has been treated here is disgusting.

Starmer's henchmen brief the Murdoch press first.

She's then booted out based on liked tweets which amount to nonsense.

The people running the Labour party are thugs.

So painful to watch Faiza Shaheen on just now - sheโ€™s been treated appallingly. Coming on the heels of the deliberate humiliation of Diane Abbott MP, it speaks volumes about those in Labour leadership who apparently care so little about democracy - or even basic decency

I chaired the hustings when Carla Denyer was initially selected as Bristol West (now Central) candidate. It was Carla and two other great women. Green Party members asked questions. All members could read candidate statements and vote in an online secret ballot. Party democracy.

So, Diane Abbott, Lloyd Russel-Moyle, Faiza Shaheen, and Aspana Begum all barred from standing under Starmer's leadership but Luke Akehurst and Natalie Elphicke are fine...

How really quite extraordinary that anonymous allegations about something a supporter of Palestinian liberation and trans rights allegedly did eight years ago should have surfaced at this precise moment.

Yet another highly principled and outspoken Labour MP being barred from running. At a moment when LGBTIQA+ rights are under attack it is galling to see those who stand up and speak out being barred by party factionalism

The scenes in Rafah are horrific.

The International Court of Justice has told Israel to stop.

Since October 7th, the Green Party of England and Wales has called for:

A full bilateral ceasefire

The release of all hostages

A suspension of all arms export licences to Israel
