Good example of why you should take wiki with a grain of salt. There is a good reason why serious scholars never use it as a reference source.

It was a privilege for me to be present and speak at the retirement lunch of my teacher, Jagdish Bhagwati. Both Padma and Jagdish had taught me and much later by some coincidence my son, Abhijeet, too at Columbia | SIPA 1/4

At the retirement party of Professor Jagdish Bhagwati. Even as the picture was being taken he told me that I knew you won’t wear a tie and I did not want you to be left without company.

Excellent column, sir. Amongst large states, Bihar has the lowest consumption inequality - but it is also the poorest amongst the large states.

We want more economic opportunity and social mobility. But wealth creation is key for jobs and to end poverty (at ever higher cutoffs.)

Poverty reduction requires wealth creation which is rarely possibly without an increase in inequality between those who create wealth and the rest. While some love to sound an alarm over such inequality, people at large rarely resent wealth creators.
