The following is from ACPD regarding a bus accident near Dr. Charles R. Drew Elementary. There are no student injuries and we are waiting for Police and EMS to release the students who were on the bus. Additional details will be communicated to families.

UPDATE: Yorktown High School remains on lockdown. Parents wishing to pick up their children who attend Yorktown High School should report to the Knights of Columbus located at 5115 Little Falls Road.

UPDATE: Police are beginning to evacuate students from Yorktown High School. They will be bused to the Knights of Columbus for reunification with parents. No injuries have been reported.

UPDATE: The investigation continues and police remain on scene conducting a cautionary search of the building. As students are evacuated, those who are being picked up will be sent to the Knights of Columbus. Students who are normally bused will be sent home via bus.

FINAL: All clear has been given after police responded to telephone threat to ‘shoot up’ Yorktown High School. No evidence of a crime was located at the school. No injuries were reported. No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing. (1/2)

.Abingdon APS is currently on Secure the Building due to police activity in the area. Access to the school is limited, and families are not able pick up Extended Day students at this time. We will update families when they can access the school
