Mary is telling us about her experience of housing - the enormous impact getting a stable home and support had on her and her children's wellbeing. The system forced her and her children into poverty. The recommendations in this report would help 1000s, she says.

4.3 million children in the UK are now in poverty, and the massive rises we've seen over the last few years aren't normal – we've had the highest child poverty increase in the OECD and EU by a huge margin. And child poverty wasn't normal in the UK until our inequality spiked.

🚨 More than 3.1 MILLION emergency food parcels were provided by food banks in our network last year. This is the highest number of parcels our network has ever distributed in a year. It’s 2024. It’s not right that people are having to turn to food banks just to survive.

Yesterday @TrussellTrust announced they'd given out over 3.1million food parcels, breaking 3m for the first time. Since 2010, we've seen hunger & billionaire wealth skyrocket at the same time. As we wait for Rich List 24, we have to recognise that something has gone deeply wrong.

🚨 🧵 The General Election has been called. Last week, we announced over 3.1 MILLION emergency food parcels were provided by food banks in our network in the past year. All political parties must now commit to building a future where no one needs a food bank to survive.⤵️

During the dissolution of Parliament, the All Party Parliamentary Group on Poverty ceases to exist. We hope to reform after the General Election.

4.3 million children are in poverty UK govt won’t see progress on child poverty by 2029 even with high economic growth 📢 Our analysis shows under our central scenario only Scotland will see child poverty rates fall by 2029 in large part due to social security policies 1/5

Yesterday afternoon we hosted a joint meeting with the APPG on Poverty and Inequality that explored how to build on the foundations of the Household Support Fund and put in place a more effective system of local crisis and resilience support in England.

🚨New report! As co-chair of APPG on Poverty and Inequality, I've been hearing evidence of the unacceptable level of hardship Disabled people currently face. The Government's planned benefits cuts will only deepen this inequality and force people further into crisis. They must be withdrawn.

Our latest report details the disproportionate impact of poverty and inequality on disabled people and how the government's Green Paper proposals will only deepen poverty and further entrench inequality. Read the full report here: tinyurl.com/appg-poverty
