On the topic of training. New staff had a fantastic morning with Greater Shankill & Jackie Redpath learning about the local area where our students come from. Very impt info for many reasons, especially in helping to build relationships. A fantastic organisation doing amazing work!

I’m aware this needs to be arranged better 😂 But I’m wanting my history classroom walls to be engaging and inspiring so this is a start! Wonderful resources from blog.tcea.org/free-classroom… I am hoping to create an LGBTQ+ wall, if you have any ideas please let me know

Has anyone successfully started a school book club?? If so any tips? Do you prepare set questions for discussions? How often do you meet? Does the school pay for the books etc??

Officially entered the 30’s club today. The full laundry basket in the background just brings a hit of reality to the occasion 😂

The Coronation gloves of Elizabeth I (1559) and Elizabeth II (1953) Both exquisite and made to measure for each Queen Elizabeth. Note the remarkable difference in finger length, but similarity in the embroidery 👑 #History #TheQueen

Why, as teachers, do we feel so guilty for taking a day off when we’re sick? Honestly you spend the day feeling so anxious & guilty that you end up worse 🙈

It's important to note that the impending #TeacherStrike is NOT just about teacher pay! It's also about: 1. Underfunded schools 2. Squeeze on the school day/hours 3. Teacher workload; one of the highest in the world! = The means, ALL pupils get less quality teaching!

If I had a research idea but didn’t want to do a PhD (think more podcasts, blog posts etc). Where could I access documents without having access to journals etc. #history #research

Feeling slightly left out that I didn’t get the emergency alert and not sure if that means I’m on some sort of hitlist 😂😂 #emergencyalert

June is usually bittersweet for me as a teacher, as I am used to packing up my stuff and moving onto another school. But not this year!!! After 5 long years, I finally got that permanent job!! Delighted is an understatement! 🙌🙌

It’s at the point of the summer holidays where I start to do abit of prep work for the year ahead. Not ideal, but introducing a new A-Level this year, so want to start the year ready and prepared, not playing catch up. I wish we worked the part time hours many think we do 😂😂

Any fellow history/politics students able to share any resources for politics AS2: The British Political Process. Teaching it for the first time this year and a little bit lost in regards to content and resources

I am so out of touch with the latest pedagogy, something I always loved staying up to date, then I fell out of love with teaching. Then I fell back in love with it and realised there’s lots I’ve missed! So, if you were to recommend some reading/articles/blogs what would they be?

I found my undergrad dissertation on loyalist opposition to 1798 rebellion & remembered how much I loved writing this. Wish I had carried on this research! If anyone is interested in this topic please do feel free to chat. Feel like I have reunited with a long lost love! 😂

Any schools out there have a ‘mindful/well-being’ club in school? Would love to implement this, but unsure of set up etc! I asked this a good few months ago but didn’t get round to doing anything. However it’s a start of a new year!

CCEA resources and support E-guides are truly awful. Planning frameworks are extremely vague and offer little help to teachers teaching new courses. Also, none of them have been updated since 2017!! Compared to English exam boards where the resources/guidance is great!
