This morning, AMSA received a call from the Lizard Island Resort in North Queensland about a 16-metre sailing vessel aground on Waining Reef, 26 km to the north west. The two people on board were rescued by a resort vessel and taken to Lizard Island. #AMSA #news #rescue

Today is the 145th anniversary of the lighting of North Reef lighthouse, off Gladstone in Queensland. Built on a coral reef at the northern end of the Capricorn Channel in the GBR, at 24m it’s the highest of its kind in Queensland.
