Great Presentation today at the #AAMS2023 conference by AMPLab researcher Peter Ibrahim on the L-PBF of TNTZO Beta Ti alloy evaluating their microstructure evolution, mechanical properties and biocompatibility for implant applications 👏👏

Meet AMPlab first year PhD student Dorothy Tomlinson. She is working with GKN Aerospace on the additive manufacturing of IN718 Nickel superalloys with a focus on microstructure control.

Very pleased to receive ~£1.5M funding from UK Atomic Energy Authority to scale up tungsten #additivemanufacturing and powder metallurgy, jointly between AMPLab, Metamorphic Tokamak Energy . Uni of Birmingham Met&Mat @ Birmingham leads the only university-led programme in this cohort.

It’s becoming a habit that AMPLab Alice Appleby Alice Appleby wins the best poster presentation award to the conferences she attends!! This is the second one in a row 🏆🏆 👏🏼👏🏼 from attending the TWI conference! Congratulations! Met&Mat @ Birmingham College of Engineering & Physical Sciences

The weekly habit continues with the AMPLab'ers AMPLab scooping prizes for any competition they participate in! Congratulations Emily 🏳️🌈 and Alice Appleby on winning the best presentation and poster awards in the Met&Mat @ Birmingham postgrad conference! ☺️👍👏🎉

Meet another AMPlab first year PhD student Adam Jackson, who will be working with The MTC and Tokamak Energy on Diffusion Bonding using HIPping on Tungsten and Vanadium alloys!

An exciting visit to GKN Aerospace this week by AMPLab PhD students Dina Fouad & Dorothy Tomlinson to discuss their projects on AM of aerospace alloys. They had a chance to meet ex-AMPLab member Dr. Lakshmi Parimi, GKN’s Principal Research Specialist together with Dr. Tony Tang.

Dr Anastassia Milleret Anastassia Milleret is leaving 🥲AMPLab, & joining UCL. She did her PhD on #AdditiveManufacturing of magnetic shape memory alloys, wining The Institute of Materials, Minerals & Mining lit review competition, plus many papers. Proud of your achievements. Not farewell, but fare forward.
