The hunt for micrometeorites in desert sediments continues! Indeed, among other activities today, Deepak and Julius are continuing their search for micrometeorites from Antarctica and Greenland! ☄️

The hunt for micrometeorites continues! Below is a selection of nine cosmic spherule candidates found recently in sand from a hot desert! These range from about 30-150 microns in size☄️

The Belspo funded ULTIMO research project with support from our team spent a month by the Belgica Mountains in East Antarctica hunting for meteorites. They overcame many obstacles to find 115 pieces! Follow the link below to see the full length video. bit.ly/41mLqsh

It's a busy week of micrometeorite hunting and imaging! The latter has included SEM/EDX analysis and optical imagery of many of our cosmic spherule finds! It's nearing the end of another productive week! Today's post features Fien and Samuele hunting for cosmic spherules, as well as Trygve measuring micrometeorites using the Raman spectrometer! Included is also an image showing *some* finds made by Sam this week! ☄️☄️

These past two weeks have included quite a bit of work with the SEM! Today various members, including Julius and Lisa (below), have been imaging polished sections of their cosmic spherule finds! ☄️😃

We are happy to end this week with a "family photo" of most FLUX (and related) team members! Despite the Sun being absent, our smiles remained present! A big thanks to Jean-Guillaume Feignon for the photo 😃☄️

We recently had the pleasure of guiding VUB Bachelor students on geological field excursions through the Ardennes and the Brabant Massif. Together, we reconstructed the tectonic history of Belgium, particularly during the Palaeozoic! 🐚🌊⛰️

The FLUX team has been busy these past couple of weeks, ranging from micrometeorite hunting, Raman spectroscopy, SEM/EDS, and XRF analysis! It's never a boring day at the lab! 😃☄️

The team is happy to be presenting at Goldschmidt2025! On Tuesday, Clara, Deepak, Jannes and Julius presented posters on their analysis of various new micrometeorite collections, plus some interesting new cosmochemical data! ☄️

In addition to the poster presentations, Fien, Lisa Krämer Ruggiu, Samuele and Trygve Prestgard presented their talks today on modern and fossil micrometeorites, as well as tektites! We are all grateful to have had the opportunity to present at Goldschmidt2025! ☄️
