Today marks 22 years since 9-year-old Amber Hagerman was abducted near her Texas home. The AMBER Alert program was developed to quickly alert the public of such abductions and was named in her honor. ALEA uses AL Missing Person Alerts as one way to notify the public of alerts in Alabama.

Today, the Alabama Fusion Center trained law enforcement officers from central Alabama on the missing person alert system. These alerts have proven successful in recovering missing persons and it is imperative that law enforcement understand the proper use of the alert system.
