There are no shortcuts to get your wings to join the flight deck. Every single airline pilot must meet this same set of standards regardless of age, identity or background. It is thanks to this commitment that U.S. airline safety is the gold standard worldwide.

Many of us have walked this path before—furloughed during previous cycles— and we remember not only the professional uncertainty but the personal toll it can take. You deserve a dedicated supportive, informed, and responsive network, and that is exactly what we aim to provide.

Airline pilots depend on NOTAMs for safety, but today's system needs modernization. We support comprehensive upgrades to improve reliability/usability, and I applaud U.S. Department of Transportation for making this important upgrade.  We need smarter systems that prioritize safety critical information.

ALPA’s volunteers are the heart and soul of the Association. Without them, our union doesn’t move forward and doesn’t earn the success that we’ve achieved. Everything that Air Line Pilots Association makes possible for our pilots and the industry is thanks to our volunteers.

It takes years of training, thousands of hours of experience, and a team of at least two well-rested pilots to make every flight safe. Pilots are & will always be the key to safety in aviation. On this World Pilots’ Day, we recognize their contributions to our industry.

Americans, regardless of whether they live in a large metropolitan area like D.C. or in a rural community, deserve the same level of safety and security. The Safer Skies Act is one important step toward what our industry needs at this critical moment in history.

This is a major win for all commercial airline pilots, and we commend the FAA for listening to industry feedback and choosing a collaborative approach to addressing medical certification challenges.
