Good to meet everyone on site this morning, thank you to the company for altering the scaffolding. Lots of lessons for the future here - Swifts need our help! And ... don't forget to tell us where Swifts are nesting - it can really help swiftmapper.org.uk

Motability is no doubt vital for lots of people, but is it largely a public guarantee for the automotive and banking industry using the benefits system? The key bit, that purchases and leases the vehicles, is owned by the major banks. Wonder what interest rates it charges itself?

In 2024, #Renewables accounted for a record-breaking 92.5% of new power capacity—up from 85.8% in 2023. Despite this momentum, we are still falling short of the #3xRenewables target set at #COP28. See IRENA’s latest report for more insights: bit.ly/43wt1eh

Heat pumps are the main solution in the UK's efforts to reduce its contributions to climate change through home heating. But the roll-out of these has been uneven; they are more common in richer and rural places.

🤯Shocking decision by the Govt and Ministry of Housing, Communities & Local Gov to permit wood burning stoves in new homes 🔥The Govt is ignoring Climate Change Committee's guidance to phase out polluting wood burners ❤️‍🩹While undermining Defra UK's commitment to protect people from air pollution. theguardian.com/environment/20…

Together with our partners in the Healthy Air Coalition, we are writing to Matthew Pennycook MP and Ministry of Housing, Communities & Local Gov. We will point out their decision ignores guidance from ‌Climate Change Committee, @cmo_england, and Defra UK. We will urge them to reconsider its decision. x.com/ImpUrbanHealth…

This is a real howler of a decision. Whereas new ecodesign stoves can have a role replacing older wood burners and open fires - where other heating sources aren't an option - allowing them in new homes, alongside central heating, is adding, not reducing, air pollution.

Massive best wishes to all 15/16 year olds commencing #GCSEs2025 this week. Doing well is an undeniable game changer for many, but we're locked into an insane system that largely tests memory and fact retention rather than learning. We have to do better by our young people

We’re kickstarting a solar rooftop revolution. All new-build houses will come with solar panels as standard. Delivering lower bills, energy security, and tackling the climate crisis. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

This is a popular policy with the public - requiring new homes to have solar panels fitted by default and to have heat pumps is supported across the political spectrum - including by a plurality of Reform UK voters.
