The AG Bluejays had a battle on their hands vs Gross but a 233 yard performance by RB Cael Smith helped turn the tide for Blue, as they finished with a 47-20 win. Smith said the O Line shares every yard he got tonight.

The Gunslinger, QB Derek Tonjes, holstered his pistol in the first half & ran like a wild stallion that just broke out of his corral. 7 carries for 100yds. For good measure, he passed for 2 TD’s and 152 yds. Dual threat presence will create even more challenges for opposing D

Emerging sophomore Jack Johnson found himself in the middle of several important plays. He took a reverse for a 2 pt conversion, had a big 2nd half catch and put a jolting hit on a receiver that pried that ball loose. Jack says this team is making strides at the right time

AG’s defense has several guys that just love contact. This is one of them. Isaac Nonella. Thrives on physicality. But in the 1st half, Gross racked up points and yardage. Isaac said the Bluejays made some changes in the 2nd half, which keyed a turnaround.

The Professor, Landon Mohs, earned that nickname because he’s cerebral. He uses his smarts to win matchups. Tonight, count ‘em, 3 interceptions, 3!!He spoke about his phenomenal night (well, he really talked about team) & how things got turned things around defensively

Logan Fangmeyer. He’s averaging over 19yds a catch- leading the team. He has become a deep threat. He’s tough. He also logged 8 tackles tonight vs Gross. Dangerous. Gamer.

Speaking of Nonella, the kid has to have a record for most tackles on kickoff coverage in a career. Tonight, he had several more. Nonella says the experience of playing on the special teams unit since his freshman year has made a big difference.

The Bluejays now await the playoffs. They have played a schedule that is one of the toughest in the state. That could reward them with a 1 or 2 seed. We’ll know soon enough but kudos to this squad for putting themselves in this enviable position.

Bluejays finish the regular season with an 8-1 record after defeating Omaha Gross 47-20. This game had all of the playoff feels: physical back and forth game, big plays by both teams, cooler weather, big home crowd...Now we await the playoffs! #playwithHEART #burntheboats
