At our event on ‘Unlocking EU transparency’, FTM journalist Lise Witteman says that it’s so hard for journalists to exercise their right of access to EU documents, often they are “self-censoring” because the process is too cumbersome.

🎤🎤We are excited to kick off our event in the Press Club in the heart of Brussels to discuss the role of AI in media 🎤🎤

💡 MEP Brando Benifei kicks off our event on AI in the media stating “We must protect journalistic creativity… we must work together to enact full transparency and make AI content recognisable… we must defend our democracies by defending our media” 🎤

At our event, Anja Wyrobek explains that there are rules to protect journalists from their work being used as material by AI tools. But, how these rules are enforced is an ongoing discussion. She said “If I were a journalist I would be cautions of how the law will be implemented”

📚📌📖When asked about the role of AI when teaching future media professionals, Professor Ike Picone just said that “educators of journalists are not prepared… it’s a dramatic change… we are trying to understand how concrete the issue is and we are ready to shift gears”.

💡At our event on AI and media, Brussels correspondent Dafydd ab lago, says that, as a journalist, AI represents a threat, but he also acknowledges that with AI so many things become possible: you can write in 10-15 languages!
