Here's a Bank Holiday treat - a folk music programme on local radio! The marvellous Genevieve Tudor will broadcast from Shrewsbury Folk Festival on BBC Radio Shropshire, on Sunday 25 August, 20.00-22.00, available via BBC Sounds, if you're outside Shropshire or listening later.

So if I take the small moth out of the door (in a clean dry yogurt pot with a piece of card on top), will I let in the large moth which has just had a free taxi ride out (in the clean dry yogurt pot etc)? No wonder I go to bed too late!

Fallen, but still ferocious! I wish you a Sunday entirely free of both snaps and dragons. Maybe with the odd small, friendly elephant... Good morning!

At Crickley Hill café, ,a kind gentleman @Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust said 'I'll fill the feeder, then you might see some birds'. 'Maybe a nuthatch,' I said, with absurd optimism. And, r there it was! Lovely as a kingfisher, colours quieter for woodland shadows. But see the stabbing beak!

'His pink feet step so near'... A delightful & thought-provoking programme, BBC Radio 3. Will Abberley re-visits the great nature writer, Richard Jefferies, for whom London was alive with wild life. So pigeons are rock doves, at home on our city cliffs! bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m0…

'Love's a lake and the world is thirsty.' Out of the sustaining depths of the Verb Ian McMillan BBC Radio 4, this wonderful line from Hanan Issa reached the shore. My photograph is from chill spring, but the programme is full of summer : bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m0…

If you can't quite reach your supper, the hedgehog advises you to tip the dish! (The paparazzi had to hide inside behind the windowsill)..

Returning from a country walk, I found three white butterflies in my own town garden - and my annual autumn favourite, the harmless hornet hoverfly!

Really enjoyed 'The Greatest Ever Faker'! Iolo Morganwg helpfully added much to Welsh medieval literature! His 'dayjob', like my own male ancestors of Welsh descent, was as a stonemason.I can't build a wall, but am thinking of constructing a fake forgery.. bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/b0…

Firewatching in California with Kim Addonizio, who brings forest scents to your room! She reveals that Jack Kerouac decided he needed to write about 'hearts not rocks'. Perhaps the most memorable words? 'We absolutely cannot let any critters get in here!' bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m0…
