This dark Sunday evening, I'm hugely enjoying listening to Genevieve Tudor BBC Shropshire Shrewsbury Folk Festival Festival ! Music, interviews, a happy hubbub... More folk, please BBC Shropshire! And thanks for this treat! Available on BBC Sounds later, of course. bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/li…
At Crickley Hill café, ,a kind gentleman @Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust said 'I'll fill the feeder, then you might see some birds'. 'Maybe a nuthatch,' I said, with absurd optimism. And, r there it was! Lovely as a kingfisher, colours quieter for woodland shadows. But see the stabbing beak!
And here is the nuthatch at Crickley Hill @Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust, having a brief break from stabbing fatballs!
'His pink feet step so near'... A delightful & thought-provoking programme, BBC Radio 3. Will Abberley re-visits the great nature writer, Richard Jefferies, for whom London was alive with wild life. So pigeons are rock doves, at home on our city cliffs! bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m0…
'Love's a lake and the world is thirsty.' Out of the sustaining depths of the Verb Ian McMillan BBC Radio 4, this wonderful line from Hanan Issa reached the shore. My photograph is from chill spring, but the programme is full of summer : bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m0…
Here is a spring lake to illustrate my post on The Verb from Hay BBC Radio 4 Ian McMillan Hanan Issa - supplied by Cerney Gardens, Gloucestershire!
Firewatching in California with Kim Addonizio, who brings forest scents to your room! She reveals that Jack Kerouac decided he needed to write about 'hearts not rocks'. Perhaps the most memorable words? 'We absolutely cannot let any critters get in here!' bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m0…
