We're hearing that clinics have been in receipt of 0-5 vaccine since Monday in preparation for first doses to be given yesterday but are waiting for an announcement from the Minister to turn on booking.

All of the towns circled in the north zone have some sort of ER closure over the long weekend.

From the DMs. Edmonton’s cancer hospital has closed 1 of its 3 acute care units for an undefined period of time due to staffing shortages.

Approximately 20 joint replacements are cancelled this week in Edmonton due to lack of hospitalist doctors.

More closures.

Swan Hills Healthcare Centre will be closed overnight for an entire month (June 9 - July 9) due to nursing staff shortages.

Multiple closures across the province.

1. Wabasca-Desmarais ER closed overnight and no inpatient admissions until June 21 due to nurse staffing.

2. Lac la Biche - no MD coverage from 17-08h June 14, 24, 27, 29.

3. Barhead - no MD coverage from 19-07h June 17, 19, 21, 28, 30.

Last night there was no MD coverage for Internal Medicine, Cardiology, or Plastic Surgery. They are also still on diversion for General Surgery.

Red Deer is the referral Centre for the central zone.

Killam ER will be closed April 14-19 due to lack of physician coverage.

Peace River will have an interruption of operating room and obstetrical services this weekend.

From the DMs. Sturgeon Hospital ER in St. Albert has opened 4 extra beds in the old ER area (which was a storage space prior to COVID) for admitted inpatients. There are no code blue bells in this area.

All orthopedic surgeries at the Royal Alexandra Hospital Orthopedic Centre in Edmonton are cancelled April 6-8 due to a lack of hospitalists (the doctors that care for patients on surgical wards).
