Just imagine we had the recording of a 6 year old Israeli girl, desperately ringing the emergency services after Hamas militants slaughtered her relatives in a car, including 3 other kids. Imagine we also had a prior recording of her 15 year old cousin, desperately pleading for

As a keen listener to Empire Podcast and The Rest Is History, I find them both rich in information, and even entertaining. They can be too western-centric though. They seem to hardly bother with native scholarship, when it comes to Islamic and Arab history, which I am familiar with 1/2

Recent pods on Iran and rise of Islam on Empire Podcast, make no reference whatsoever to the likes of Ibn Ishaq, Almawerdi, Ibn Katheer or Attabari, among others. Would love to know why? Not sure if the same treatment is given to other histories I am less familiar with. 2/2

You can take a person out of the ⁦Canal & River Trust⁩ ⁦Canal & River Trust West Midlands⁩, but you can’t take the Trust of that person. In a Moroccan cafe at sunset, in the middle of the busiest souk, with the drums and pipes of the snake charmers just warning up.

The Spring Road/Stratford Road junction in #sparkhill #Birmingham needs urgent and serious organising. The current traffic light and yellow box do not work. Bham City Council

So, I have been reading this excellent, if scary, verdict on our political system. Leads me to ask, can any elected government really do anything to improve people’s lives? If you have time, I recommend you read it. Makes you feel really sorry for the new #MPs. Poor souls.

Having read this now. I have no hope whatsoever that any minister has the incentive to make any meaningful changes that result in service improvement. The system simply does not allow it.

Our city is proud of its diversity and its many communities stand united against racism, violence and division. In Birmingham, there is no place for hate.

If you have time, this is well worth attending . Great for the kids and the whole family. I remember my grandkids especially enjoying their time at the controls of the JCB excavator.
