While I had never met Emma Crosbie and the members of the Manchester Academic Health Science Center’s Team Womb Collective, their work inspired me to nominate them for the AACR Team Science Award. I was thrilled to meet them and see them recognized on Sunday at #AACR24 .

Thanks to my colleagues for a productive discussion of ways to advance the goals of the National Cancer Plan. The opportunities for progress are enormous, but we must convince Congress to invest in those opportunities by continuing robust funding for NIH and NCI.

It was great to see our President-Elect, Pat LoRusso, at the AACR Board of Directors meeting here at #AACR24 . Her presidency will begin on Monday during the Annual Business Meeting of Members, and I look forward to working with her to achieve her objectives.

Congratulations to Dr. Lillian L. Siu, who will become the 17th woman AACR president when she takes the gavel in 2025. Since the first woman scientist served as AACR president in 1961, 17 women have been elected AACR president— including 10 of the last 23. Lillian Siu
