I read the comic 300 yesterday and found it pretty racist. I can see the appeal of the story, but its depiction of ancient societies makes me want to laugh. Anybody know if the movie is any better?

I don't know why I'm like this, but I am. I feel like canon ships always end up being less satisfying to me than almost canon ships. I guess seeing them taking the final step in canon just ruins the tension for me?

I love ships that go against initial impressions and subvert expected dynamics. Eruri is so good because neither of them are on the inside who they appear to be on the outside, and their private dynamic doesn't line up with their public appearance.

Finished the Illiad (Emily Wilson's translation) today and goddamn. I went into it for the Achilles/Patroclus yaoi, but it's amazing and deserves its place as the foundation of Western literature. Also, I still support the Trojans more. Is my inner Roman too strong?
