Rachel Reeves is considering an actual bailout for manufacturers by offering them a CfD for electricity consumption. We're offering CfDs for expensive renewables and then subsidising manufacturers to use expensive energy at a discount. They're mad as hatters. Link in reply.

This applies to the UK too. Add in the highest industrial electricity prices in the developed world and you end up with deindustrialisation on steroids and stagnating per capita GDP. Sound money and cheap abundant energy are the foundations of prosperity.

You should look at the industrial production statistics and wonder why if renewables are so cheap, energy intensive industries are being decimated.
