We're starting the new month by celebrating Phillips County, which was formed on May 1, 1820, by the Territorial Legislature. The county has a rich heritage and nearly two dozen sites within the county are on the National Register of Historical Places. #ARcounties

Last but not least, let's celebrate Howard County, which was formed in 1873 from parts of Hempstead, Sevier, Polk and Pike counties. The county seat was moved from Center Point to Nashville in 1905 and the present-day courthouse was built in 1938. #ARcounties

Time to celebrate Lee County! The landscape of Lee County is rolling hills in the northern tip and rich delta flat farmland in the center. Half of the St. Francis National Forest, the smallest forest in the nation, is situated in the southeastern section. #ARcounties

Faulkner County was formed 151 years ago today. The county was named for Col. Sanford C. Faulkner, a fiddle player and tall-tale teller, who was given the name of being the original “Arkansas Traveler.” #ARcounties
Boone County was the 63rd county formed in Arkansas. The Boone County Courthouse lawn is home to a memorial for those who left from near Harrison to settle in California and all of whom, except for 17 children, were killed in the Mountain Meadows Massacre in Utah. #ARcounties
Garland County was formed on April 5, 1873. In 1832, Hot Springs National Park became the first national reservation set aside for recreational purposes and is the only national park within a city. The courthouse is the only one in Arkansas located in a national park. #ARcounties
We celebrate Miller County, which was formed 204 years ago. The land on which the Miller County Courthouse stands was sold to the county for a nominal consideration by the railroad on condition that it be used for a courthouse. #ARcounties
