We warmed up for math with “musical chairs.” Each student was given a different number at their seat. I played music and when it stopped, students had to find a seat and fill in one of the boxes (write the number in word form, multiply by 10, etc). They loved it! #BeEvergreen

We love practicing our math facts with a little friendly competition! I read a 9s fact to the kids and whoever “splat” the product of the equation first earned a point for their team. Both teams did awesome! 😊✖️🪰 #BeEvergreen

We love student to student discourse! 🤓 Students are working on multiplying fractions & showing it pictorially using an area model. Students built on what they learned in their previous lesson to teach/review with the class & show what they know in Padlet! #BeEvergreen Padlet

5th grade loves vocabulary ‼️ One of our words this week is honorable. Students represented the word with clay. Students made firefighters putting out a fire, army badges, tiaras, etc. and explained why what they made is honorable! They loved it! 💖🏅👑🔥#BeEvergreen

ABC Countdown in 5th grade at NW! What better way to spend G and I than an ice cream party and bringing in your own games! #BeEvergreen

We’re going to miss our 5th graders at Northwest as they embark on their next journey as middle schoolers at CMS. It’ll be sad to see this special group of kids go. #BeEvergreen

Today’s community builder consisted of toothpaste, toothpicks, and critical convos! Words can be compared to toothpaste, once something negative is said it can’t be taken back, similarly to how toothpaste can’t be put back into its original tube. Words are POWERFUL! #BeEvergreen

Today our 5th graders hosted an entrepreneur day. Students created a business plan and were able to “sell” their item with their Dojo Dollars! So much creativity and so proud of them! 💖 #BeEvergreen

This week we set up our ELA notebooks and took part in an impromptu challenge called the “One Scrap Challenge.” The goal? To cut everything you need while ending up with only one scrap left over! It’s the little things sometimes 😂❤️ #BeEvergreen

Using the “Think As You Read” Strategy is so important! This group did a great job of listening to the personal narrative “The First Real San Giving Day” and discussing parts of the text that stood out to them by using this strategy. Awesome convos today! 🤓 #BeEvergreen
