DRAMA // For our last Barker Theatre Club of the year, we were lucky enough to see The Hayes Theatre Co’s incredible production of ‘Catch Me If You Can'. It was a joy to see Old Boy Jarrod Draper (Class of 2014) on stage in his Hayes debut! #WeAreBarker

17. City of Gold @griffintheatre. Meyne Wyatt is a force to be reckoned with. A powerful voice, a story we all need to hear. Incredibly moving, challenging, intense, funny, brilliant night at the theatre. Bravo- we need more Australian stories like this on our stages! A MUST SEE!

18. Banging Denmark SydneyTheatreCompany. Late review but a story for today. Brilliant cast, inventive design and plenty of laughs and gasps of horror. A scary insight into trolls, misogyny and the impact it has on us all.

19. Chicago the Musical Opening Night! Alinta Chidzey is an absolute powerhouse. The ensemble is a triple threat masterclass! The band is sensational and the entr’acte is brilliant. This cast brings so much energy and spark to this often seen revival. A must see Chicago The Musical

Cannot wait to see this Yve Blake Belvoir atyp_theatre!!!! More 14 year old girls should want to be playwrights when they grown up... Imagine the stories we would see on our stages 🦸🏻‍♀️🎭🎤

20. Avalanche SydneyTheatreCompany. Heartbreakingly honest. Maxine Peake is exceptional. The design and direction shows how simplicity and empty space theatre can be done theatrically and powerfully matching the text and performance in every moment. Many tears were shed.... 😢👏🏻

21. Kids theatre edition for the holidays! Andy’s Amazing adventures at Luna Park. Pretty diabolical show, a glorified ad. Kids loved it as other kids were pulled onto the stage but unfortunately for adults it was a long afternoon. Did enjoy the jazz flute though!

22. Kids edition continues. Erths Dinosaur Sydney Opera House. Magnificent puppets and brilliant kid interactions. The boys couldn’t believe their eyes. Meeting a baby T-Rex after the show was a highlight as well.

23. Kids edition.. Revolting Rhymes Glen Street Theatre by shake & stir theatre! What a sensational show. Exactly what kids theatre should be - theatrical, musical, over the top, sophisticated and yet full of blood, guts, farts and burps. From 4 to 62 we all absolutely LOVED it! Bravo!!!

24. Fangirls Belvoir. I’ve been reflecting on this all day, what is it about this show that is so INCREDIBLE? The cast, the chorey, the joy and laughter, the tears, the female voice, all the feels we felt or the genius that is Yve Blake? It’s everything. Everyone must see!!!

1.Double Delicious Sydney Festival. An incredible night of storytelling, movement & delicious food. Fascinating exploration of the Asian Australian experience and their connection with food. Watching Benjamin Law 羅旭能’s mum take a million photos of him performing was a highlight!

2. ROFLSHALBOWCO Monkey Baa Theatre Company The Listies 💩 🤣. Thigh smackingly hilarious, so much fun with brilliant audience interaction. Plus I got to play tromboneon on stage 😂. Highly recommended for the young and young at heart!!

3. Every Brilliant Thing Belvoir. An absolute joy to take our students to see this incredible play. Steve Rodgers’ performance is warm, engaging and thought provoking. An important piece that deals with mental health and life’s brilliant things. We’re starting our own list!

4. School of Rock! A bunch of very talented kids onstage. 4 year old review was ‘RAD!’.

5. The Deep Blue Sea SydneyTheatreCompany. A dark, intensely thought provoking play. Paige Rattray’s vision is strong, the set is incredible and Marta Dusseldorp is a site to behold- a beautiful lesson in the subtlety and power of Realism.

6. Jesus Wants Me For A Sunbeam Belvoir NationalTheatreParra. Absolutely heartbreaking, the cast is stunning, especially @matthewwhittet. Our Theatre Club students sobbed and sobbed and one asked ‘Miss, how do you know how to pick these plays? They just speak to us!’.

7. Cyrano De Bergerac Barker College. Stunning production of Damien Ryan’s brilliant adaptation. The students absolutely sparkle under the direction of DR and Pia Midgley. Sublime ensemble work, incredible sound, lighting and set designs and spectacular casting!

8. SIX 👑 is SPECTACULAR!! What a joy the Australian cast is. In the vein of Hamilton, taking history (or herstory 👸🏻) and wrapping it in a delicious parcel of pop music, incredible vocals and outstanding talent. A feminist masterpiece! And a story for all.
